In collaboration with the Museum für Asiatische Kunst, Berlin and The Victoria and Albert Museum, London, this talk invited curators from two European collections to share their latest efforts at interpreting Chinese works of art from different perspectives. Dr. Birgitta Augustin, Curator of Chinese art, at the Museum für Asiatische Kunst, Berlin introduced artworks featured in two of the museum's new galleries. While Dr. Hongxing Zhang, Senior Curator of East Asia, at The Victoria and Albert Museum, London, focused on recent in depth research into some of the museum's new acquisitions of Chinese works on paper and silk, including court paintings produced in the Qianlong period, ink rubbings of metal and stone objects made for eminent scholars and collectors of the late Qing, as well as artworks by 20th century cosmopolitan literati-artist Chiang Yee.
