Aaron Rio, Andrew W. Mellon Associate Curator of Japanese and Korean Art, Minneapolis Institute of Art

6 November 2018

Co-presented by the Ink Society, Friends of the Hong Kong Museum of Art and Christie's

Dr. Aaron Rio spoke on the changing notions among Zen ink painters active in Kamakura, Japan, of the Chinese Chan painter "Muqi" (c. 1210-after 1269). By looking at certain temple collections of art, the talk examined this development from the thirteenth to fifteenth centuries.
